Hair treatments are as varied in nature as they are in price and it should be expected that a full re-style will cost more than a standard wash and blow dry. With that being said, there are hair salons that aspire to be as affordable as possible – regardless of the treatment being undertaken. There’s no real guideline or set price list relating to what treatments should cost however, and sometimes it’s more about finding an affordable salon that won’t sacrifice its quality to cater to lower costs.
Knowing what you will be expected to pay before you commit to a salon can be beneficial, so we’ve compiled this list of common hair services and their average price per session.
A quick cut and blow dry
These services are fairly minimal in nature and can be performed well within an hour. In most instances, the average price should be between £15 and £25.
Washing and conditioning
At home, washing and conditioning hair can take less than 20 minutes, but at a salon, where an expert will be taking care of the task – it can take a little longer. Prices usually average £30.
Applying a new hair colour can take over an hour (longer if highlights and shading are being applied, too). This treatment can vary from £80 to £140, depending on the requirements.
Possibly one of the more extensive treatments available at a salon, re-styling often involves a variety of techniques, including cutting and trimming, and will usually carry a price tag of up to £150.
As mentioned above, these are simply rough estimates based on the average prices within the hairdressing industry. To obtain a better understanding of the types of costs associated with individual treatments, it’s a good idea to contact a local hair salon directly and ask for a quote. Some may charge more – but if they promise superior results, then the extra fee may well be worth the investment.
